Western Maryland is proving to be one of the Alleghenies popular recreational areas. Garrett County is within a three-hour drive of Washington, D.C. Angling is commonly viewed as a major source of recreation. The area offers boating on Deep Creek Lake, canoeing and rafting on the Savage and Youghiogheny Rivers. There are more than 320 miles of water in Garrett and Allegheny Counties. Small mountain brooks or big rivers, you name it These two Western Maryland counties have it in abundance.
